SOS Children's Villages has been present in France since 1956, when the first SOS Children's Village outside Austria was established in Busigny in Northern France. The work of SOS Children's Villages has increased over the years.
The first family houses were built in 1963 and today, there are altogether ten family houses and one community house scattered over a residential area that is composed of houses with gardens and vast parks and from outside, no distinction can be made between the SOS family houses and the other buildings of the area. Next to the SOS Children's Village there are public schools and various sports' facilities attended by the about 50 SOS children. Small apartments in the city where the adolescents stay during their higher educational or vocational training in order to be prepaired step by step to an independent life, are also part of the SOS Children's Village.
