Grant Manager SOS Children’s Villages Norway

Would you like to be a part of our international work for children’s rights? We have a vacancy open as Grant Manager responsible for our partnership with Norad – the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation.

SOS Norway has recently entered into a new 5-year Agreement with Norad (2020-24) to support children living in families at risk of breaking down in Malawi and Zambia. The support provided to children are mainly within education, health, parental guidance and income-generation. The program also has a strong focus on gender, children with disabilities and advocacy towards governments for the rights of children without parental care.

The position sits with the Institutional Partnerships & Compliance Team in SOS Norway. This Team is responsible for developing and maintaining SOS Norway’s strategic relations with institutional donors, ensuring long term and sustainable donor relations, resulting in funding and policy influence. As a Grant Manager you will work closely with relevant colleagues internally in the Team, colleagues in SOS Children’s Villages International General Secretariat as well as with local partners in Malawi and Zambia. Some international travel will be required.

Responbilities and tasks

  • Coordinate the annual grant project cycle from the planning stage to final report writing to Norad (Project Cycle Management)  
  • Responsible for all relations with Norad in fulfilling our grant agreement
  • Work systematically together with our regional office to ensure that the expected results of the 5 year-program are met
  • Assess annual budgets and regular financial reporting
  • Follow up identified risks and preventive measures against corruption/financial mismanagement
  • Participate in relevant fora on development cooperation in Norway
  • Contribute to advocacy efforts targeting relevant donors.
  • Support the overall deliverables of the Institutional Partnership Team as needed, including support on calls for proposals for new institutional funding opportunities.

Qualifications, experience and skills

  • You are a self-driven individual with excellent interpersonal, communication and planning skills. 
  • You have documented results in fundraising, including developing proposals and reports to government/institutional donors.
  • You have experience from using Results-Based Management (RBM) as a tool
  • You have strong planning and administrative skills, including a good understanding of financial reporting and budgeting.
  • You have a university degree (MA) or equivalent in a related field.
  • Experience from working with local organizations, gender issues, people with disabilities and/or economic development
  • You have a minimum 3 years of practical experience from a humanitarian and/or development organization either at HQ or field level. 
  • You have good understanding of the development sector, principles and programming.
  • You have high work capacity; you motivate others and enjoy working in teams. 
  • You are fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Other language skills are an advantage.
